Dr. Jason Brotherton has over six years’ experience working full-time in Kenya. As a critical care physician, balancing practicing and teaching in the US, with his interest in further developing critical care in resource-variable settings. With an eye on contributing to global health in both adult medicine and pediatrics, Dr. Brotherton completed a combined Med-Peds residency program at Los Angeles County – University of Southern California. Soon thereafter, he and his family moved to Kenya to help launch a new residency program for East African physicians. He concurrently pursued a Critical Care Fellowship through the University of Pittsburgh with a heart to develop such care in Kenya and beyond. In addition to teaching, Dr. Brotherton is also passionate about pragmatic research focused on resource-variable settings and patient populations, and thus has published numerous papers on such. He now practices critical care medicine and hospital pediatrics in Tucson, AZ, and is volunteer faculty with the University of Arizona’s Border and Global Health program.
